Upfront Ventures Backs Waldo Photos In $5M Funding
Los Angeles-based venture capital investor Upfront Ventures is putting its money behind a startup, Waldo Photos, which is looking to make it a lot easier for you to find photos of yourself taken by other people. According to Waldo Photos, Upfront Ventures led its $5M, seed funding round, with Upfront's Kara Nortman taking the lead role in the investment. Waldo said its photo finding platform will automatically deliver photos of users--whether taken by friends or professional photographers--and automatically deliver them to a user's smartphone. The new startup was founded by Rodney Rice and Michael Beaudoin, who sold their last company, HomeAdvisor (ServiceMagic), to InterActive Corp. Waldo Photos is based in Texas. The investment looks to be the first lead by Nortman--who co-founded Moonfrye--in a company. More information »
