Uber Shuts Down
Los Angeles-based Uber, the online social networking web site run by former Friendster CEO Scott Sassa, has shut down. According to the firm's web site, as of September 29, the firm's investors have decided to stop supporting the site, and the company has closed its doors. Uber blamed the crisis in the economy for the shutdown. Uber developed software used to upload, organize, and share content through a free web site; the site also provided photo galleries, slide shows, videos, and blogs.
