Total Immersion Gets Win At Topps
Los Angeles-based Total Immersion, a developer of technology for inserting interactive video into a live camera feed, said Monday that it has inked a deal with baseball trading firm Topps to create "3D" baseball trading cards. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. The deal is the first consumer product to come out of Total Immersion. According to Topps and Total Immersion, interactive codes will be included with Topps 2009 baseball trading cards, which--when those cards are held up to a webcam--will allow baseball players to "magically" spring to life on screen. Total Immersion's technology projects interactive video and graphics, overlaid on top of live, web-cam images. The firm recently moved its US headquarters to Los Angeles from the Bay Area, and is backed by a number of French venture capital firms.
