Thousands Gather To Honor Surfline's Collins
Thousands of people gathered over the weekend to honor Sean Collins, the founder of Huntington Beach-based Surfline, the online information site focused on wave forecasts, surfing, and other sports. According to OrangeCounty.com, about 2,000 people gathered at Collins' "paddle out" on Sunday, in what some estimated to be the biggest memorial tribute ever for a surfer in Huntington Beach. Collins' founded Surfline in 1985 as a phone-in surf forecast service, later transforming it into one of the largest sports and surfing websites in the world.
