Startup Accelerator, Backed by LA Investors, Targets VR, AR

The Green Screen Institute, a startup accelerator which is looking to create innovation in the virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) areas, says that it is getting close to closing applications for its first, startup accelerator program. The accelerator--backed by a long list of Los Angeles investors and startup veterans, including Scott Lenet of Touchdown VC, Adam Rockmore (VP Marketing, Fandango), David Fields (Tornante Company), Robyn Ward (Head of New Media Ventures at United Talent Agency), and Hamet Watt (Upfront Ventures)--says it is providing technical, educational, and financial support in a three-month summer program for creators exploring VR and AR, at its location in the Sierra foothills, in Northern California's Nevada County. The accelerator says the long list of LA backers for its efforts is no mistake: a spokesperson says that LA is the king of content creation and the accelerator will thrive with LA-based VR and AR companies. Applications are open for the accelerator's first class until June 1st.
