SpaceX Aims For Wednesday Launch
Hawthorne-based SpaceX is in the midst of pre-flight checks for its next launch, scheduled for Wednesday from Florida. According to NASA, SpaceX had a static firing of its rocket on Monday, in preparation for that launch. SpaceX is preparing to launch the SES-9 satellite. NASA said the first launch window on Wednesday is between 18:46 to 20:23 Eastern. The SES-9 will provide direct television broadcasting, maritime communications, and other capabilities to Northeast Asia, South Asia, and Indonesia. SpaceX is apparently hoping to try yet another landing of the first stage of the Falcon 9 on its landing barge; landing on that barge has proven to be a challenge for SpaceX, which has managed to land one of its stages on land with no issues.
