RIAA Files New File Sharing Lawsuits
The Recording Industry Association of America said yesterday that it has filed a new round of copyright infringement lawsuits, this time against 761 illegal file sharers. The organization is again targeting campus users of peer-to-peer file sharing services, with the suits targeting users of college networks at 12 schools, including Boston College, Iowa State, the University of Massachusetts, Amherst College, and others. The organization said that it was specifically targeting college students to educate them about the law, the harm suffered by musicians, labels, and retailers from stolen music.
