Report: Venture Capital Fund Linked To Convicted Felon In Lompoc

A new report, published this morning by Fortune, says that a "new" venture capital fund--announced last week in officially looking press releases--appears to be linked to a convicted inmate, currently imprisoned in Lompoc. Fortune says that Asenqua Ventures--which has official looking, but apparently completely fake entries in Crunchbase, Pitchbook, and other industry databases, plus its own website, does not exist, does not have offices where it claims to be, and also stole the profile photos of two, San Diego realtors for use on fake LinkedIn profiles for the firm. Fortune says it does not know who has been sending out press releases from the company. The original Asenqua Ventures was led by convicted felon Albert Hu, who was sentenced to spend 12 years in prison for wire fraud in 2013.
