Overland Closes San Diego Manufacturing Facilities
San Diego-based Overland Storage (www.overlandstorage.com) announced this morning that the company is outsourcing its manufacturing operations, and closing its San Diego operations. Overland said that it will outsource all of its manufacturing to Sanmina-SCI, and lay off 140 Overland employees at its San Diego facility. The 140 employees represent about one-third of its total workforce, according to the company. Overland said that the transition will take place over the next nine months, and cited the expensive economic environment in San Diego. Overland develops backup and recovery hardware products.
