NantStudios Launches Virtual Production Campus In El Segundo
El Segundo-based NantStudios--a new venture which is related to the "Nant" series of companies run by billionaire Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong--said on Tuesday that it has launched a new "virtual production ecosystem and innovation campus" in El Segundo. NantStudios said it has created a 24,000 sq. ft. sound stage providing independent in-camera visual effects services and more for everything from high end feature films and independent video projects. The new effort is led by Michele B. Chan Soon-Shiong, who is married to Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong. NantStudios said that Epic Games will co-locate its new Los Angeles Lab at NantStudios. In addition to the sound stage, NantStudios said it offers up 25,000 sq. ft. of set fabrication space with a dedicated backlot, 30,000 sq. ft. of support space, and parking for over 500 vehicles.
