Major Amazon S3 Outage Hits Internet
An outage at Amazon Web Services is causing major downtime across the cloud this morning, as sites which rely on the cloud storage service have been unable to reliably connect all morning. Such sites as the U.S. Securities And Exchange Commission, Slack, Quora, and many others, have been unavailable since Amazon reported "increased error rates" out of its US-EAST-1 zone. Although Amazon's web services are widely used by Southern California tech startups, it's unclear how many are being affected by the downtime. S3 is used by many websites for storing data, images, and video.
