Hyperloop Transportation Technologies Shows Off Capsule Design
Playa Vista-based Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, which is one of LA's multiple companies working on next generation, "Hyperloop" style transportation systems, has unveiled a capsule design today in Spain. According to HTT, the new, full-scale passenger Hyperloop capsule was built for the company Spanish company Airtificial, and stretches 105 feet, weighing 5 tons. The company said its "Quintero One" passenger capsule is being delivered to its research and development center in Toulouse, France, for additional assembly and integration into its systems. It's unclear how functional the capsule is that was shown off today, or if it's just a full size mockup of what a capsule might look like; the company did not show off any interior photos of the capsule. HyperloopTT is led by co-founder and CEO Dirk Ahlborn. The company--along with Virgin Hyperloop One and The Boring Company--all have been looking to sell cities and governments on implementing the new transportation systems, first cooked up by Elon Musk as a far-out idea of accelerating transportation between cities.
