Hulu Makes Major Upgrades To Video Player
Los Angeles-based video site Hulu has just rolled out a number of major upgrades to the service and its video player, the firm announced this morning. Hulu said it would be releasing the updated player today, with features such as new, adaptive bitrate streaming to accommodate for Internet performance; better volume control on advertising; new options on closed captioning displays; a preview feature on video timelines with frame snapshots; a "heat map" to pinpoint interesting points in episodes of TV shows and movies; as well as a bigger, 720x404 pixel player size. Hulu also said it is continuing to use Flash on its player, and will "continue to monitor developments on HTML5," saying the new standard "doesn't yet meet all of our customers' needs."
