FilmTrack Backs Content ID Effort
Los Angeles-based content and rights management software developer FilmTrack said late Tuesday that it is backing a new metadata standard for the media and entertainment industry. FilmTrack said it has linked with EIDR, an organization developing a new content identifier system for the movie and television industry. FilmTrack said the integration means that users can auto-populate an EIDR number--which is a unique, content identifier which is shared across the industry--into their projects. EIDR was founded by MovieLabs, CableLabs, Comcast and Rovi. FilmTrack's cloud-based software helps manage media and entertainment assets, handles intellectual property management, invoicing, licensing, royalties, an many other similar areas, and says its software is being used by such customers as CBS, DreamWorks Animation, Endemol, Miramax, and many others.
