Eucalyptus Upgrades Cloud Software
Santa Barbara-based Eucalyptus has upgraded its cloud computing software, saying last week that it has released Eucalyptus 3, its third generation infrastructure-as-a-service software for cloud computing. The software is aimed at enterprises, who want to maintain private and hybrid clouds. The company said the biggest enhancement to the software are high availability features, which prevents single points of failure form crashing systems. The new feature can handle such issues as failure of a disk drive, memory corruption, or network and power corruption issues. Eucalpytus, which is headed by Marten Mickos, supplies its software to such companies as PUMA, USDA, Plinga, Aerospace Corporation, InterContinental Hotels Group, and Wetpaint, among others.
