Emulex Impacted By Floods In Thailand
Costa Mesa-based Emulex has joined the growing list of electronics manufacturers who are seeing fallout from record flooding in Thailand, saying late Wednesday that one of its subcontracted manufacturing facilities in that country has been damaged by flooding. Emulex said one of its subcontracted facilities at the Hi-Tech Industrial Estate in Ayudhaya, Thailand, sustained damage from flooding, and has suspended operations. Emulex said all production and test equipment, as well as raw materials and finished goods, have been moved to higher floors or other locations that were not affected by the flooding, although the building received ground floor damage. Emulex said it expects that availability of some of its board-level products might be temporarily constrained in the quarter; the firm said it would provide an assessment of financial impact of the issues on its upcoming earnings call. Fellow Orange County manufacturer WD has been one of the most impacted local firms by the Thailand floods, after its facilities in the same area were flooded over the weekend--however, dozens of other major electronics firms have been similarly impacted.
