Donuts Raises Series B For Domain Domination
Donuts Inc., the startup which is taking on the new, generic top-level domain name market, announced a new round of funding today, a Series B round. Size of the round was not disclosed. The firm, which has offices in Southern California and which was founded by former Demand Media executives, said its new funding round was led by Generation Partners, and also included Columbia Partners Private Capital. The firm said the round was at twice the valuation of its initial Series A funding.
Donuts last round was worth more than $100M, and came last June. The firm is focused on becoming a registry for the new, gTLD market, the new domain name extensions which sit at the same level as the common .com and .net domains. Donuts is led by Paul Stahura, the former Demand Media President and Chief Strategy Officer.
