Doctours Offers Medical Tourism Marketplace

Need to get a dental or medical procedure done, but it's too expensive? Los Angeles-based Doctours says its service helps consumers overcome the difficulties of accessing medical and dental services which are unavailable or non-licensed in their home country due to a range of factors including big pharmaceutical companies, undue political influence, stringent FDA regulations, and privatized healthcare. According to the company, its interactive, online platform helps users find medical and dental treatment in 35 foreign countries, connecting patients with international doctors. The company was founded by Katelyn O'Shaughnessy. O'Shaughnessy previously founded TripScope (acquired by Travefy). The company said it offers up more than 330 different medical and dental procedures through its site, ranging from in vitro fertilization to plastic surgery and Lasik; the service also manages itineraries for its patients.
