daring Picks Up $8M For New Plant Protein Brand
Los Angeles-based daring, a new startup developing plant-based chicken-flavored protein products, announced on Tuesday morning that it has raised $8M in a Series A funding round. The funding was led by Maveron, and also includes GoodFriends (a new fund founded by the founders of Allbirds, Harry's, and Warby Parker), Stray Dog Capital, Palm Tree Crew Investments, as well as angels, including Mike Smith (CFO of Stitch Fix) and Brian Swette (former Chair of Burger King). daring says it is developing "clean plant-based chicken". The company says it will use the new funding for marketing, innovation, and staffing. daring is led by co-founder and CEO Ross Mckay, and was co-founded by COO Eliott Kessas.
