Confident Technologies Launches Web Application Security Tools
San Diego-based Confident Technologies, a new startup led by former Websense President Curtis Staker, said today that it has launched a firm focused on developing image-based authentication and verification technology for web applications. The firm has acquired technology--originally developed at defunct security firm Vidoop--which uses images to authenticate users into web sites. Staker said that the firm is looking to bypass rampant security issues with current, password-based logins with its own method of authentication using images, plus multi-factor authentication techniques. Staker is joined in the new startup by Roman Yudkin, who has served as VP Engineering at Websense, CTO at Pharmatica and COO at Mindport; as well as Wlliam Goldbach, EVP, the former VP Sales and Channel at Websense and VP Sales at Scansafe. Staker was most recently CEO at GFI Software, a firm located in Malta.
