Ceres, Syngenta In Market Development Deal
Thousand Oaks-based Ceres, the developer of seeds for the energy and biofuels industry, said today that its Brazilian subsidiary, Ceres Sementes do Brasil Ltda., is in a deal with Syngenta to develop sweet sorghum-based products to power Brazil's ethanol mills. The two said they will collaborate on small-scale trials and larger demonstration field evaluations of its hybrid seeds. Financial details of the deal were not announced. The two said that Brazil has more than 400 ethanol mills who potentially would use crops based on its seeds.
