Ceres Licenses Software To Bayer CropScience
Thousand Oaks-based agricultural biotechnology developer Ceres said today that it has licensed its Persephone genome visualization application to Bayer CropScience. Financial impact of the deal were not announced. Ceres said the deal includes a multi-year, software license and collaboration agreement and professional services and support. The Ceres software tool is used for sifting through genetic data, to help search for data and make cross references. Ceres apparently developed the tool originally for its own, internal use, but has since licensed the tool out to other companies to deal with the massive data being generated by DNA sequencing and genetic testing.
