BYD Rolls Out First Electric Bus In Lancaster

Chinese electric auto and bus maker BYD says it has rolled out its first, California-made electric bus, at a ceremony Tuesday with Governor Jerry Brown. BYD said it rolled out an all-electric, long-range, 40-foot rapid transit bus in a ceremony at its factory in Lancaster, where it says it expects to build its clean energy electric buses. BYD says that, so far, it has hired more than 60 people for the location, and expects to have hired 100 by the end of the year, and as many as 200 workers by the end of next year. BYD had announced plans for the Lancaster factory last year. BYD's biggest shareholder if Berkshire Hathaway, which owns about 9.9 percent of the company.
