Broadcom Buys Percello
Irvine-based Broadcom has acquired Percello Ltd., a developer of systems a developer of systems-on-a-chip for femtocells, the firm said Tuesday afternoon. Broadcom said it would pay $86M net of cash to acquire Percello, in a combination of cash plus employee stock options. The firm also said it will hold up to $12.0M in earnout for former holders of Percello's capital stock. Percello's femtocell semiconductors are used in small, low power cellular base stations for indoor cell phone coverage. The firm said the acquisition will help it accelerate its time to market for femtocell technology.
