Broadcom Acquires NetLogic
Iirvine-based Broadcom announced this morning that it is in a deal to acquire NetLogic Microsystems, a developer of semiconductors for the networking market, in a deal worth approximately $3.7 billion. Broadcom said it has entered into a definitive merger agreement where it will pay $50 per share for NetLogic. The deal is expected to close in the first half of 2012. Broadcom explained that the acquisition would extend its infrastructure portfolio with new product lines and technology, including knowledge-based processors, multi-core embedded processors, and digital front-end processors.
