Alteryx Tries Its Hand At Election Politics Prediction
Irvine-based data analytics software developer Alteryx is trying its hand at election predictions, saying on Friday that it has started offering up detailed, local predictions for the presidential elections, drawing on data collected via SurveyMonkey. The company said it is combining such information as age, education, income and race, plus micro targeted survey information, to make "hyper-local" predictions of the race. The company said it is hoping to deliver--in only a few clicks--information which typically has taken "weeks of analysis" to generate. The company is making the data available via an app. Alteryx did not say if it has tested its algorithm against any historical data, only saying its proprietary model is "designed to accurately forecast electoral preferences" at the Census Block Group level.
