AirMap Adds Real Time Air Traffic Avoidance Data
Santa Monica-based AirMap, which is developing APIs and tools to help drone operators and manufacturers better avoid restricted air space, has linked up with a provider of live flight data to use live, real time air traffic data to avoid airplanes. According to AirMap, it is tapping into live flight data from PASSUR Aerospace, integrating that data with AirMap's real time, traffic alert system for unmanned aircraft. PASSUR operates a network of radar and ground based flight surveillance information. Financial details of the link were not announced. PASSUR pulls real time flight data from the industry Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast/ADS-B and other systems, to provide real time aircraft location data, updated every 1 to 4.6 seconds.
